Founders Day 2017

Founder's Day is a national public holiday in Ghana.

It's annually observed on September 21, that is birthday anniversary of Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana and the father of this state.

The holiday also commemorates other founding fathers of Ghana.

Kwame Nkrumah was born on September 21, 1909.

In 1951 he became the first Prime Minister of the Gold Coast and led the state towards independence from Great Britain in 1957.

Nkrumah became the first Prime Minister of independent Ghana and soon its first President in 1960.
